Nine races in nine months

This past weekend I completed my ninth marathon / ultra-marathon in nine months this year. I finished the Ogden Valley 50 mile ultra-marathon for the second time. It was a fitting finish to my long racing season.

Here's a short summary of my season:

February - Moab Red Hot 50K+. This was a very scenic marathon near Canyonlands.

March - Buffalo Run 50 miler. Nice long spring race, but it took it's toll on my knees.

April - Recover.

May - Ogden Marathon. Ran with Terry O Mura and Mike Cummings. Better time than last year.

June - Squaw Peak 50 miler. Rain, mud and snow. Toughest race of the year.

(June) - Wasatch Back Relay with Sigma Chi friends. Doesn't count as a marathon.

July - Speedgoat 50K at Snowbird. Incredible elevation (and incredible blisters)

August - Park City Marathon. Third time's a charm. I beat 4 hours.

September - Mid-Mountain Marathon. 5 minutes slower this year. Felt great after the race.

October - St. George Marathon. 3 hours and 43 minutes of rain. But still a fun race.

October - Ogden Valley 50 miler. Beautiful, scenic day. Ran it by myself a little slower.

So now I take some down time, but still continue to train (running and biking). Mike and I plan our calendar for 2009 which might include a 100 miler. Stay tuned.
